General IRC information

IRC Polices
The below is the official policy for conduct in all UnitedAdmins IRC channels.

  1. Primacy
    1. These rules govern all channels registered the *unitedadmins account.

    2. Individual channels may create their own rules, but in the event of conflict, the rules contained here shale take precedence.

  2. Channels
    1. The primary channel is #unitedadmins on the GameSurge IRC Network.

      1. This channel is relayed #unitedadmins on the QuakeNet IRC Network.

    2. In addition, several other channels beginning with #ua. are / can be registered for public or private chat regarding specific topics.

    3. All UnitedAdmins managed channels, including all channels that have the name of an UA product and/or that begin with #ua. are required to be owned by the *unitedadmins account. Information on how-to transfer channel ownership can be found here. (link coming soon)

  3. Conduct
    1. All channels and users are required to comply with the GameSurge Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). In addition the rules listed in the GameSurge AUP, the below rules will also be enforced.

    2. When needing to speak to a channel operator (chan op) in private message (PM), first request permission to do so in a channel.

    3. When seeking help, simply state the question in #unitedadmins, do not PM ops, or wait for someone to ask you to ask your question.

  4. Authentication
    1. All users are encouraged to create/use authserv accounts and set mode +x.

Information on how-to create an account, login, and set mode +x can be found here.

    2. All staff are required to remain authenticated and have mode +x set at all times. This will ensure that the staff member can enter private channels and will help prevent a malicious user from learning that staffer’s IP address.

    3. All staff are strongly encouraged to idle in both #unitedadmins, #ua.staff, and any project related channel whenever online.

  5. Access Polices
    1. #unitedadmins

    2. #ua.staff
